Universal OSINT is an independent, nonprofit educational initiative helping people understand open-source intelligence and the public knowledge that makes it possible. Our aim is understanding, not surveillance; education, not commercial lead generation.

Open knowledge, worldwide

We believe people should know that useful public information exists and understand how to question it. Libraries, public institutions, scientific communities, and open-data programs provide many entry points into learning about the world.

We take a worldwide, nonpartisan perspective. Studying the international order means examining institutions, public decisions, development, and environmental conditions through evidence, not promoting a geopolitical doctrine or claiming access to hidden truths. We recognize that coverage, language, and access are uneven across regions.

What we are, and what we are not

This is an introductory educational website. It is not an intelligence agency, an official public body, a certification provider, or a service for investigating individuals. References to the United Nations, the World Bank, the European Union, or other institutions do not imply affiliation, funding, approval, or endorsement.

"Nonprofit" describes the initiative's educational, noncommercial purpose. This website does not claim registered charity status, tax-exempt recognition, or any particular legal registration.

Editorial approach and sources

  • Prefer official primary sources. Link directly to institutional publications and datasets where possible, and identify their scope and limitations.
  • Question authority as well as claims. Official provenance helps establish origin, not infallibility. Definitions, collection methods, and omissions still matter.
  • Keep examples honest. Label learning exercises as exercises. Do not invent statistics, case results, qualifications, or endorsements.
  • Make review dates meaningful. A page's date refers to its substantive content review, not a claim that every external dataset is current.
  • Explain changes. Date substantive corrections and summarize them on the affected page when needed. Do not silently rewrite a consequential finding.

The current guides introduce concepts rather than report original investigations. External publishers control their own content and may revise or move it. This site does not promise continuous monitoring, personalized advice, or a formal peer-review service.

Privacy and minimal data use

The published site files contain no analytics, advertising, contact forms, embedded third-party media, or application cookies. Fonts, styles, and scripts are served locally; reading the guides does not require an account.

The hosting infrastructure may process technical request information, such as IP addresses, timestamps, requested URLs, and browser information, in access or error logs. This notice does not claim that server logging is disabled or specify an unverified retention period.

External sources are ordinary links, not embedded services. When you follow one, the destination's privacy policy and terms apply. This website does not control external services or their data collection.

Reuse and attribution

Original educational text and original graphics published by Universal OSINT on this site are offered under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). You may share and adapt that material, including commercially, subject to the license terms.

Attribute Universal OSINT, link to the source page and the license, and indicate changes. Do not imply endorsement. Suggested credit: "Universal OSINT, [page title], [source URL], CC BY 4.0; adapted where indicated."

This license does not cover third-party publications, linked datasets, institutional names or logos, or rights we do not own. Check each external source's own license and applicable restrictions. A content license does not waive privacy or other third-party rights.

Access for people and machines

All guides are readable as ordinary HTML without JavaScript. A sitemap lists the canonical pages, and llms.txt provides a concise discovery guide with links to matching Markdown versions.

Our robots policy allows public crawling, including AI crawlers. Discovery files are not access controls, and allowing a crawler does not guarantee indexing, citation, or accurate representation. The original pages and their cited sources remain the references to check.
